Former Opes Prime boss Laurie Emini and fellow director Anthony Blumberg have been jailed after the security and lending firm’s 2008 collapse left creditors owed more than $630 million.

Emini, 48, was jailed for two years. One year is to be served immediately behind bars and the rest as a excellent behaviour bond.

He pleaded guilty to two counts of using his position of company director for an benefit and one of recklessly signing documents.

Anthony Blumberg, 43, was jailed for one year. Six months is to be served behind bars and the remainder as a excellent behaviour bond.

He pleaded guilty to one charge of using his position dishonestly to gain an benefit.

Victorian Supreme Incite Justice David Beach described the pair’s offending as serious but added that their co-operation with authorities showed genuine remorse and it was highly liable they would not re-offend.

He said they were free to have their before excellent character taken into account.
